Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year, Peeplets!!

How were your New Years’ celebrations??  Mine were quite excellent.

Last night, New Years’ Eve, I went to a friends’ place.  There weren’t a lot of us there, but there were enough of us that we had an entertaining time.  I got there early to help set up (which ended up being just the two of us hanging lights then sitting and chatting whilst I tried to keep the dog away from me  ;D)  and then the party started.

I had my first ever Cruiser, and my second and my third…. Someone also made us a Vodka slushy that contained 3.66666667 standard drinks (we did the math half way through and after two drinks already) in the one serve, so, needless to say, I drank the entire glass.  The faces of my friends when they saw that I was drinking are totally indescribable!!  They were completely amazed and awed and everything!

No one has ever seen me drink before.

The only drink that I have ever had before last night is Champagne – Riccadonna to be more specific.  I quite enjoyed it  ;D

Blueberry is my favourite, but I also liked the Raspberry because of its sugarlessness..

So that was my new years eve…

We watched the fireworks, got slightly intoxicated, reminisced about the past and ate way too much.  Best night of my life   ;D

However, there is another matter that I would like to express right now, before I leave you in peace to enjoy the remainder of your new years celebrations and that is….

New Years’ Resolutions!!

I have a few this year.  I figure the more I have, the more likely it is that I will actually go through with one of them.  Also I have a theory that resolutions are merely just things that we want to improve in our lives, and that it doesn’t matter if we break them continuously, all that really matters is that we register that these are the things that we want to change and we make an effort to change this in our lives.  So… in breaking a resolution, we just work towards breaking it less and less throughout the year until we no longer break it… and here are my resolutions:

1.     Write for at least 10 minutes ever day – this way I can practice my writing and get better and better and better  ;D
2.     Do some form of physical activity everyday – I’m, like, insanely unfit, so, by doing something each day, I can build on my fitness and partake in some form of team sport at uni next year.
3.     Loose weight – this one has been my most problematic throughout my life.  I have had it as a resolution every year, but I’ve never had this theory before, so I never really gave it a chance.

I think that’s all of them, but I had a few so I can’t really remember.. if I think of anymore, I’ll let you know  ;D

This is me signing off for the first time in 2011…  May you all enjoy your new year, may all your wishes and hopes come true and may your resolutions be something that you can really work hard towards!!

hmmm.... a lovely series that I highly enjoyed..

Heyy there!!

It has been awhile since I last posted, but time seems to have escaped me… not to mention I spend all my spare time reading.  Which is where today’s post comes into play…

I am a ridiculously slow reader – I like to think that it means that I can absorb more details of the text than someone who reads it in half the time because I actually take the time to see everything that there is to see in the text  ;D

So, you may be wondering which book and series I am talking about??  And that is what I am about to tell you and then, as I promised previously, I shall go in depth about it, as I really enjoyed both of the books in the series that I just read (there is going to be at least another book!!  ;D)

And the series is::

FALLEN!!!!

So the story pretty much follows the life of Luce – Lucinda Price – who is living her umpteenth life.  The story begins as Luce is committed to Sword & Cross, something similar to a mental institution, where she meets the gorgeous Cam and the wounded Daniel Grigori.

At first, Luce feels a strong pull towards Daniel, almost as though they had known each other since forever, but he continues to blow her off, so she ends up falling for Cam.  That is, until Daniel decides that it is time for Luce to know the truth…

Luce’s many near-death encounters continually force her into a position where Daniel is made to save her.  Finally, after much frustration, Daniel tells Luce the truth..

Daniel is a fallen angel.  He fell from heaven after he fell in love with Luce thousands of years ago.  Every time they meet, he knows that they won’t have much time together because, just after she turns seventeen, her love for Daniel is soo strong that when they kiss or touch or sometimes just talk, Luce bursts into flames, leaving nothing behind but a pile of ashes.

Eventually, at the end of the novel, just after Daniel tells Luce the truth, she finds that Cam is also a fallen angel except that he plays for the devil, not God.  He and Daniel, not to mention half of the students at the school who also turn out to be fallen angels, battle, fighting to what seems like the death, but really just until they tire, seeing as there are very few things that can actually kill a fallen angle.

Luce and her good friend Penn – Pennyweather Sykle Vann-Lockwood – are rescued by their teacher, Miss Sophia.  The only thing is that they aren’t exactly as safe with Miss Sophia as Daniel had thought or hoped.  Penn is killed and Luce nearly sacrificed.

So there are these things called Announcers, or as Luce calls them ‘the Shadows’.  They appear to be the ones that burn Luce every time she gets to close to Daniel, or in her present life, the ones who burn the guys that she gets too close to.

Daniel, along with Arianne and Gabbe, saves Luce from the evil clutches of Miss Sophia.  Mr Cole, their band teacher, a human who just happens to be on Daniel’s side, takes Luce away.  Which is pretty much where the story ends.. for now..

And then the sequel starts, almost exactly where it left off, with Luce and Daniel in love.  But it’s not quite the same.  Daniel and Cam have signed a treaty.  Luce hates Cam.  Luce and Daniel are in love but on the outs.

Daniel takes Luce to a school where, she realizes, there are nearly a hundred Nephilim – people with angel blood who can do awesome things.  Luce also finds that Angels and Demons can get along harmoniously, until the final battle when they will have to kill each other.

Her new teachers, Francesca and Steven, teach them how to manipulate the Announcers.  A heads up on Announcers, they hold the history and the past, but only thing related to the person who summoned them,

Luce and her new friends, Shelby and Miles, learn how to manipulate the Announcers so that Luce can see her past, which she needs to learn more about because it is the only way that she and Daniel can truly be together.

According to the truce between Daniel and Cam, neither of the boys is allowed to see Luce for eighteen days, but Daniel and Luce are having trouble with it.  They seem to be sneaking around, but they always end up fighting.  There are certain things that Daniel can’t and won’t tell Luce because he is too scared that she will spontaneously combust.

Luce steps into her past, only to meet one of her sisters from a past life, only to have that sister recognize her when their hands brush each other and Luce is thrown into several visions from that past life.  It is then that Luce gets doubts of her love for Daniel and the life that she is living.

It is in this moment of weakness that Miles makes his move.  He kisses Luce while Daniel is watching.  Their relationship takes a slight bump, but they don’t get to talk about it because he flies away.

Mr Cole organizes for Luce to go home for Thanksgiving, and she ends up taking nearly all of her friends, human, angel, demon or Nephilim, with her.  It is on this trip that she realizes that Daniel is ‘the one’ and that she doesn’t want to live without her.

But Shelby’s ex-boyfriend turned out to be an Outcast, and they want Luce to get their way back into Heaven.  A gigantic fight breaks out at Luce’s house while her parents are out and Luce desperately wants to help.

In the end, Miles saves the day, but Cam stops the plan but the Outcasts get away.  As Luce comes out of the shadows, only to step into an Announcer and into her past.

In the epilogue, we learn that Daniel has trust issues and Luce is the only one he trusts.  He then pulls up his own Announcer ad steps into it, desperately searching for Luce.

The next in the series is Passion, which sounds promising… Maybe Daniel will find Luce and they’ll relive the past tgether and then move on to the future…  But that’s just me with my fairy tale endings…

In my opinion, this series is seriously addictive!  It’s heard to stop once you start, but, again, it’s an easy read and highly fun.  The ideas that were presented within the novel were outstanding and highly influential.  It is definitely a book/series that you should read if you are looking for something different and freshly new.

Stay tuned for a comparison of the Fallen series with the Hush Hush series, peeplets, because that will be coming to this space soon!!

Becca Fitzpatrick's Duo

My favourite part about reading a book is talking about it, but in this case, as I have no one around who has read or is willing to read the books that I do, I have decided to influence you awesome people into reading, or at least appreciating, those book which I read and cherish.

Last night, I got all of two hours sleep, and it’s not because I didn’t try to sleep, I really did!!  Sleep just wouldn’t come!  So instead of sleep, I read.  It only took me 9 hours (for the average reader more like 4 hours) to read an entire novel.

And what novel did I read, you may be asking yourself.  The answer to your question is a simple one, and I am about to tell you about both the novel that I read and the one that came before it; starting with:

Hush Hush

OMG!!  Amazing!!  Patch, the protagonistic, supermegafoxyawesomehot, sexy love interest is one of the main reasons I read the book so many times!!  I seem to always go for the rebellious, hot, wounded guys in the novels, over the nice, polite, chivalrous ones.  A reflection of my real life state??  I’ll let you know one day  ;D

So a brief outline is that Nora, the protagonist, is the descendent of a Nephilim – offspring of fallen angels and humans.  One day Patch, as describe above is a fallen angel, and he walks into Nora’s life.  He intends to sacrifice her, but heyy presto! He falls in love with her and she with him..  He ends up saving her life and gets turned into her guardian angel.  That’s pretty much the guts of the story, just add in some hot and steamy kissing that makes you go all tingly because of its romanticness…

It may not be written in the most complex writing and is quite an easy read, but it sure is worth the read because, without Patch in your life, something’s just don’t seem right!!

And the sequel to this brilliance is:

Crescendo

This is the one that I spent 9 hours reading, and it was worth every moment!!!  It is definitely the kind of book that you can’t put down on your first reading, or your second, or your third.  Maybe by the fifth or sixth run through, your not constantly sitting on the edge of you seat waiting for Patch to tell Nora that he loves her, or trying to find out who the murderer is…

A little heads up that what follows contains spoilers, so if you haven’t read it yet, close your eyes and scream “LALALALALALALA!” at the top of you lungs and block your ears and call out “I can’t hear you!”  All the things you do to stop hearing and seeing things…

So, Patch and Nora are really happy together, two months has past between the end of the first novel and the start of the second.  Then they swap some jewelry and Nora tells Patch that she loves him… Then things turn pare shaped!!  He gets distant, she gets moody, neither can say what they are really thinking or feeling.

Nora’s best friend from her childhood comes back and turns out to be a Nephilim.  It’s dangerous to hang out with him, but she does it anyway – her idea of making a stand to Patch.  Nora soon finds out that Patch is hooking up with her enemy, Marcie, who also turns out to be her sister (Nora’s father wasn’t her real father, but Marcie’s father, also a Nephilim!  Wow!  Intense much??)

In the end, the killer is caught, only moments before Nora is killed.. It was quite disappointing, though, because I kind of guessed the killer from about half way through and just had to sit and wait to find out what happened…

Needless to say, Patch and Nora end up together, but there’s a surprise ending that even I didn’t foresee!!  Which now leaves the question…

What is going to happen in the third book!!???!?!??!?!?!?!?!

**  You can read again  ;D  **

So, the third book is called Tempest, which sounds quite interesting..

Something else that I find interesting, is that Hush Hush means to be quiet, Crescendo means to get louder and Tempest means wild storm, commotion, blizzard, bluster, chaos, convulsion, cyclone, disturbance, ferment, furor, gale, hurricane, squall, tornado, tumult, typhoon, upheaval, uproar, wildness, windstorm…

In other words, the first book is quiet, the second, heating up, and the third… WOAH!!!  That’s going to be HOT and STEAMY!!!!!!!  I can picture it now!!

Time for bed now, peeplets, so sleep, dream pretty dreams, or hot and steamy ones if that’s what you do.. But by all means, dream of Patch, I know I will   ;D

Rain Dance Bugs…

Unfortunately, it didn’t rain tonight, which meant that the concert went ahead, but my sister did turn up in time to see my two of my three dances - all turned out good in the end.

Tonight’s concert was the funniest, most disgusting concert ever!!   It was full of tears, dancing, gorgeous little kids, rain and BUGS!!!!!!

There were soooo many bugs on stage that it was GROSS!!!!  The most disgusting thing that I’ve ever been apart of!  Locusts and Beetles, Flies and Spiders, all things that creep me out.  I can still feel them crawling on me..  EWW!!!!

And to top it all off, one of my friends got dumped by her 28 year old boyfriend who she was intending to move in with in Melbourne next year… hhmmmmm… the most awkward position I have ever been put in – yes, it sucks that he broke up with you, but isn’t it better that he did it now, rather than in 2 months time when you’re living together???????   Apparently not!!

But my concert:

First dance:  The music on stage was barely audible!!  This meant that our entire dance started about 20 counts behind and we weren’t even dancing to the beat!!  By the time that we caught up to the music and all danced to the same beat, we had about 30 seconds left in the dance  D;  Ooopss!!!!

Second dance:  Scarecrows!!  But with a twist…  we’re the ones scared of crows, not the other way around!  The music was turned up by this stage, so it was all good in that department, but I danced the entire dance with a beetle on my boob!  As we waited to go on, we watched the thunder in the distance and laughed at how funny it would be if it started raining during our dance – and then it did!!  ;D  I rolled over several bugs during the dance, being left with bloody stains all over my costume, which I never have to see again!  ;D

Third and Final dance:  a bug crawled down my dress as I danced, making its way into my pants…  I think that I may have flashed the boys in the front row at some point, but I’ll never see them again, so I don’t really care..

After the finale, it’s a tradition that the leaving year 12s give a little thank you speech to our teacher and her hubby for all their hard work and stuff, and I found out just as we went on for the dance that they had nominated me to do the talking… hhmmmmm… Apparently I’m good at the impromptus, because everyone who I talked to afterwards gave me glowing reviews for it..

And now…  it’s raining buckets!!  Just a little bit late, man!!  If only the clouds could have opened up 4 hours ago!  But we danced and the rain came…  One could say that we did a pretty awesome rain dance  ;D

Anywho, I’m pretty sure that it’s late and I’m pooped, which means, peeplets, this it the end of another blog from yours truly!

First Day of Summer..

Usually the sun is shining, birds are singing, pool is perfect – my favourite time of year …  and then there’s reality: clouds in the sky, bucketing down rain, freezing cold.  It’s nothing like what it should be!

I was at work today, and I had my iPod in almost as loud as it could go, so that I didn’t have to talk to anyone at work, and I couldn’t hear it over the rain!!!  It was seriously raining that loudly that there was no way that I could hear anything except for the loud, loud pitter patter of rain on the iron roof…  D;

So, the rain is supposed to continue for the next week or so, unfortunately, this means that there will be no swimming in my immediate future, but there may also be no dance concert!  My dance concert is on Saturday, but it’s outside in the park, which means that if it’s raining, it gets delayed to Sunday night, and if it’s raining on Sunday, it gets moved to Monday, and if it’s raining on Monday night, tit gets moved to Tuesday night… and so on and so forth until it stops raining for one day..  Here’s hoping that it does rain on Saturday so that the concert can be on Sunday night so that my parents can come to the concert, or at least someone from my family can come.

Speaking of Summer, I’m working my way through The O.C..  I’ve been watching it since before my Chemistry exam (just after Methods) and am currently up to the 14th episode of the 4th season.  I’m pretty sure that there are only 2 episodes left, so then I’ll have to find another something to take over my life…  Maybe I’ll actually clean my room like my parents want me to…

But this, peeplets, is the end of my first ever blog..  Apologies for my inability to write blogs properly, I’ve only ever read 2 or 3, so I’m not actually sure what I should or shouldn’t say..

Tooroo for now, and I’ll catch you soon!  ;D
